Reforming the federation

Bulat Utemuratov came to the Tennis Federation of Kazakhstan in 2007. By that time, he had already gained a reputation of a progressive leader, who introduced modern management schemes. It is no secret that the KTF was in dire needs of new ideas at that time. Bulat Utemuratov began his work with the presentation of a long detailed program of action. It is noteworthy that it was approved by the officials of the International Tennis Federation and personally by the President of Kazakhstan.

The main goal of the new leader is the popularization of tennis and its transfer from the category of entertainment for the wealthy elite into sport, affordable to everyone. For this purpose, the distribution of funds was carefully revised, and money was allocated for the construction of new courts and a complete reconstruction of the old ones. Today, in all 15 regions of the country, there are ultramodern training facilities, which are open to all.

Support for athletes

It takes time to cultivate a generation of future champions. Bulat Utemuratov understands this perfectly and therefore supports the children's programs “Tennis to 10” and “School tennis initiative”, which are implemented by the KTF. Young athletes get the opportunity to train in specialized sports clubs under the guidance of qualified specialists and participate in competitions of regional and international scale. One must also mention the Tennis Academy Team Kazakhstan, which prepares the team for the Davis Cup and Fed Cup tournaments.

Bulat Utemuratov attracts foreign legionnaires to the team. Reputed athletes set the subtlety bar too high and inspire the beginner tennis players with their results. In addition, the head of the KTF takes part in the opening ceremonies of new courts and attends the competitions. Video reports about some events can be found at

Today we can talk about the results of the Federation's work already. About 40 international ITF, ITF futures, ITF Juniors, ATF and ATP Challenger tournaments are held in Kazakhstan. It was simply impossible 10 years ago. The KFT promises to continue improvements in that regard.
